Melanin-Girls has designed a breast cancer collection called "Our Fight" and half of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Ellie Fund for Breast Cancer which is based in Massachusetts and will go to helping patients get to their medical appointments, pay for housekeeping, and also provide gift cards as well as other necessities to help with the financial burden treatment might cause. I recently turned 40 and its my time to have my first mammogram which I am fearing due to the known rather than the unknown, if that makes sense. Breast cancer doesn't just affect women, it also affects men as well and this is why yearly mammograms are so important as well as making sure all the necessary follow-ups take place such as diagnostic mammograms and breast ultrasounds. Even if you're under 40 make sure you know your family history so you're not waiting around for that 40th birthday to have your screening mammogram done.
In this year alone there is expected to be over 286,000 women who are diagnosed as well as over 41,000 breast cancer deaths (Komen.org). At the same statistics also show that this year breast cancer will also be diagnosed in over 2,600 men and will lead to 500 deaths in men alone. I know October is breast cancer awareness month but men and women are fighting everyday 365 days a year to beat it and Melanin-Girls wanted to do our part to help!!
"Our fight" collection will be available all year & we will continue to donate half of the proceeds to the Ellie Fund for Breast Cancer all year!!!
